Napa City Nights - 10 Year Anniversary

Napa City Nights “A Summer Tradition in The Napa Valley” will be kicking off its 10th Anniversary season with the bands of summer on June 9th at the Veteran’s Memorial Park Amphitheater. It’s grown in popularity over the years, and if you’ve attended, you know why.

Nestled along the Napa River Walk, the amphitheater is a beautiful venue in the heart of downtown within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The music starts each Friday at 6:30 p.m. and is brought to you by an all-volunteer group of musicians and music lovers.

NCN is excited to continue to be a part of the happening vibe downtown and to showcase highly talented and professional artists. When it began in 2008, the organizers of Napa City Nights had a vision to bring a free, family-friendly concert series for locals and tourists alike, and to give local musicians a place to showcase their talent. Since then, the place to be on a Friday night is “Napa City Nights Summer Concerts” which draws as many as 1000 attendees on any given Friday. How cool is it to know that on a Friday after working hard all week you can grab the family and friends and meet up to have dinner in or around the park and enjoy incredible free music?

This year’s audience will be entertained by a wide variety of musical genres and styles with three acts performing each Friday night. The format is the same each week. An eclectic line up of talented live performances, in the spirit of Bill Graham’s style of productions. An acoustic solo or small ensemble opens from 6:30 to 7:00pm. Keeping the evening building the next band is up at 7:15 to 8:00pm. Then from 8:15 to 10:00pm, it’s always a fun, energetic band that people want to get up and dance to. The first year, the organizers had to scramble to find enough bands to play. Now we have 200 plus bands that apply for the available spots every year.

It’s the mission of NCN to keep this a family-friendly event; many people bring blankets or low-back chairs and make a night of it with a picnic. The terraced seating means every spot is a good one, but if you want to get there to claim your favorite place and spread your blanket, it’s a good idea to arrive by 6:00 p.m.

This years’ volunteer crew, consisting of Chris and Sue Chesbrough, Scott Meloney, Andrew Booher, Sarah Hall, Tracy Rohrer, Jeff Hammond, Ray Perez-Murillo, Sandy Schulze, Darren Schauer, will be on hand to help make 2017 the best summer of music ever!

It is with amazing gratitude that we are able to fund this event each year with monies from our generous and committed sponsorship family, and honored to have Jeremy Nickel Cellars as our presenting sponsor this year.

Napa City Nights is proud to be a part of the home grown music scene and to continue expanding its successful internship program, where young adults have the opportunity to get hands on experience and learn what it takes to put on a live concert. The free concert series will be held this year from June 9th through August 18, from 6:30-10:00 p.m.
